Breakfast Briefing
Total Building Commissioning for High-Performance Buildings

The building commissioning process is a quality-oriented process for achieving, verifying, and documenting that the performance of buildings and their systems and assemblies meet defined objectives and criteria. The process assumes that owners, programmers, designers, contractors, commissioning team members, and operations and maintenance staff are fully accountable for the quality of their work. Total building commissioning covers all major systems of the building and begins at project inception and continues for the life of the facility. The process includes specific tasks to be conducted during each phase in order to verify that design, construction, and training meet the owner’s requirements.

This briefing is intended to introduce the opportunities that total building commissioning can provide to support the overall goals of the effort.
